Celebrating the Women of Albury Vineyard

International Women's Day 2026

On International Women’s Day, we celebrate the women who shape industries, communities and businesses across the world. At Albury Vineyard in the Surrey Hills, women play an essential role in our vineyard, winery partnerships, events and visitor experiences.

As a family-run organic vineyard near Guildford, just under an hour from London, we are proud to highlight the women who contribute to the growth of English sparkling wine and the success of sustainable wine production in Surrey.

Women in English Wine: A Growing Presence

The English wine industry has expanded significantly over the past decade, with increasing representation of women in vineyard management, winemaking, sustainability leadership and commercial roles.

At Albury Vineyard, women contribute across the business, from organic vineyard practices to delivering wine tastings and events in the Surrey Hills. International Women’s Day provides an opportunity to recognise that expertise and the value of diverse leadership within UK wine.

Meet the Women Behind Albury

🌿 Lucy, General Manager
"I love being part of our family business, working alongside my father to share our passion for organic English wine and create unforgettable experiences at Albury."

🌿 Alex, Estate Manager
"I love that Albury has given me the opportunity to grow as a viticulturalist, champion sustainable practices, and help pave the way for more women in vineyard management—something that was rare when I started 15 years ago."

🌿 Sarah, Vineyard Team & Tasting Host
"I love being part of a tight-knit team where my voice is heard and appreciated, and getting to experience the whole journey of wine—from vine to glass—while sharing its story with our customers."

🌿 Becky, Events Manager
"Albury is a lovely place to work because of the people—being a small team, everyone is involved in all areas of the business. I also enjoy working with our members and helping with the many varied events, from corporate gatherings to hen dos!"

Inspiring the Next Generation

As a founding member of Sustainable Wines of Great Britain, we’re passionate about leading the way in organic and sustainable viticulture. But we’re also committed to making the industry more inclusive and accessible for women. Whether in the vineyard, in hospitality, or in marketing, we hope to inspire more women to join the world of wine and make their own mark.

Give to Gain

The 2026 International Women’s Day theme, 'Give to Gain', highlights a simple but powerful idea: when we give, we all gain.

This year, we are proud to support a social media campaign led by Queena Wong, encouraging individuals and organisations across the UK wine industry to reflect on what they have given and what they have gained in their careers.

The campaign explores how knowledge-sharing, mentoring, visibility, advocacy and collaboration strengthen not only individual women, but the wider wine community. When opportunities are shared, when experience is passed on, and when voices are amplified, the entire industry becomes more resilient and inclusive.

As part of this conversation, we are reflecting on the many ways support and collaboration shape careers in English wine, from vineyard teams to hospitality and marketing.
